Boyfriend Hat in 2x2 Ribbing

Someone asked for a modified Boyfriend Hat pattern with 2x2 ribbing.  I just quickly wrote this up.  So there might be mistakes, and more importantly, I have not tested this pattern.

Please refer to the original Boyfriend Hat pattern.  This post just contains modifications that can be done to the original pattern.

If you desire to use K2xP2 ribbing instead of K3xP2 ribbing, cast on stitches in a number divisible by 8 - like 96 or 104 stitches.  (Note:  you might want to do a gauge swatch to see if 2x2 ribbing stretches like 3x2 ribbing.)

The following decreases are for K2xP2 ribbing.  Stitch counts assume you cast on 104 stitches.  Since the 2x2 ribbing decreases a little more quickly, you might want to knit a little longer (a couple more rows) before starting the decreases.

Decreases:

Row 1: *K2, P2, K2tog, P2; repeat from * until end of row (91 sts remain)

Row 2: *K2, P2, P2tog, P1; repeat from * until end of row (78 sts remain)

Row 3: *K2, P2, P2tog; repeat from * until end of row (65 sts remain)

Row 4: *K2, P1, P2tog; repeat from * until end of row (52 sts remain)

Row 5: *K2tog, P2; repeat from * until end of row (39 sts remain)

Row 6: * K2tog, P1; repeat from * until end of row (26 sts remain)

Row 7: *K2tog; repeat from * until last stitch of row, K1 (13 sts remain)

Row 8: *K2tog; repeat from * until last stitch of row, K1 (7 sts remain)

Cut yarn, weave through remaining stitches to close hole at top, and weave in the ends.

Hi

My name is Caroline Watling and I’m a partner in a West Country fibre shop called Pipps and Co here in the UK. We’re putting together some knitting kits to sell to our customers and would like to use your pattern together with appropriate wool to create an Aran hat kit. We would, of course, give full acknowledgement to you as the pattern designer and note that you had authorised it’s use.

Would you be happy to allow its use?

Best regards

Caroline
